A Joyful Naples Tradition

Naples Philharmonic Holiday Pops
Naples Philharmonic Holiday Pops

Each December, Holiday Pops fills Hayes Hall with the spirit of the season as the Naples Philharmonic, Naples Philharmonic Chorus, and Naples Philharmonic Youth Chorus come together for one of Southwest Florida’s most beloved musical traditions. Presented by Artis—Naples, the annual concert envelops audiences with twinkling lights, festive décor, symphonic sparkle, soaring voices, and cherished melodies for a celebration that captures the warmth and wonder of the holidays.

This year’s performances, taking place December 18-21, welcome Broadway star Michael Longoria, best known for playing the role of Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys and for his vibrant solo career bridging Broadway and pop. With his radiant voice and charismatic stage presence, Longoria brings new life to familiar favorites and original tunes. Performing with the Naples Philharmonic and two choruses, his expressive interpretations add a touch of Broadway flair to the festivities.

At the podium, Radu Paponiu returns to Naples—a fitting homecoming for the former associate conductor of the Naples Philharmonic and longtime music director of the Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Now serving as director of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, Paponiu’s connection to Naples runs deep, making his return to lead Holiday Pops especially meaningful.

“I cannot put into words how excited I am to return to Naples,” Paponiu shared in advance of the performance. “It’s such a special place for me, and I loved every second there. Coming back to make music again with the Naples Philharmonic, Naples Philharmonic Chorus, and Naples Philharmonic Youth Chorus feels like reuniting with family.”

His rapport with the musicians, built over years of collaboration, ensures a performance filled with both precision and heart. “It doesn’t really feel like the holidays until we get to play some holiday music,” he added. “These tunes put a smile on my face every year. They bring back so many memories—being with family, growing up, hearing those same songs. And we get to relive that together, through music.”

The program captures the full emotional range of the season, from jubilant fanfares to tender carols and playful holiday favorites. Audiences can expect lush arrangements of classics like “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” plus surprises to delight all ages. From the first bright notes to the final sleigh bells, Holiday Pops with the Naples Philharmonic is a joyful reminder of what makes this season so special.
