Kensington Golf & Country Club recently partnered with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and Youth Haven to host the annual Sheriff’s Kids Day, a two-day enrichment experience for a number of local underprivileged and at-risk youths. This special event has been provided at the private country club in North Naples each year since 2015.
This year, Kensington Golf & Country Club members Jan and Sue Guben and Jackie Ressa worked in conjunction with the CCSO and Youth Haven to host the event.
The club welcomed children from across Collier County for an inspiring and activity-filled event designed to provide both recreational fun and valuable life insight. Youths participated in hands-on learning experiences across various departments at the club, reflecting Kensington’s ongoing commitment to community outreach and youth development.
From the golf practice facility to the courts to the kitchen, participants engaged in an immersive schedule of activities. They include:
Golf instruction with Kensington’s Golf Professional, Justin Harris, during which youths practiced skills and learned about careers in golf.
Tennis and pickleball clinics with Tennis Professional, Bryan Twente, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and physical fitness.
Culinary fun with Executive Chef Ralph Feraco, who led a lively and delicious pizza-making session in the club kitchen.
Behind-the-scenes insight into the club’s current renovation project, including an interactive tour and conversation with the construction and facilities team.
Golf course maintenance tour with Director of Golf Course Operations, Lanny Clark, where they learned about the technology and equipment needed to maintain a golf course.
Fitness workout with Director of Fitness, Kristy Breuler, and her team.
“This event is not just about having fun – it is about showing these young individuals what’s possible for their future,” said Dave Krzywonos, General Manager at Kensington Golf & Country Club. “Our team has always been honored to help create a memorable, inspiring and safe space where underprivileged and at-risk youths could dream big.”
This collaborative event is part of a broader initiative led by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Youth Resource Center, which focuses on “Putting Children First.” Through its partnership with Youth Haven, CCSO connects families with resources that support youth development and long-term success. The Youth Resource Center provides a variety of coordinated programs that encourage youth involvement, responsibility, and positive community engagement.
Based in Naples, Youth Haven is Southwest Florida’s only emergency and residential shelter for children and teens removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Since 1972, Youth Haven has offered Home, Hope and Healing, creating a secure environment where children can heal and thrive. The organization’s partnership with law enforcement and other community organizations continues to open doors of opportunity for those in their care.
Kensington Golf & Country Club is proud to have played a small part in these young lives and looks forward to continuing its partnership with local organizations that serve and uplift the community.
