For visitors looking to experience Naples’ creative side, J&C Boulevard, located in the Naples Art District, offers a vibrant destination with nine studios and 14 artists showcasing paintings, sculpture, mixed-media art, interactive classes, and one-of-a-kind gifts.
Northline Plaza, Naples Art Studios (2172 J&C Blvd) is home to artist duo Richard5 and Tracy3 Rosen. The couple’s travels are reflected in their art and the atmosphere of the studio itself. Richard’s work blends sculpture and painting, often inspired by the intersection of nature and human design. A kiln anchors the studio, where he also teaches clay hand-building and raku classes. Tracy’s colorful spirit shines through her mixed-media art, collage, and handcrafted jewelry. Her beginner macramé classes are a favorite for visitors looking to try something creative.
Sharing the Naples Art Studio space is acrylic painter Julie Kimball6, known for her vibrant palette and expressive style. Julie describes herself as a colorist and abstract painter, and her current series of abstract florals radiates energy and optimism. Her philosophy is simple: art should celebrate how amazing life can be — and in her studio, color leads the way.
Next door at Art Edge Gallery & Studio (2180 J&C Blvd), contemporary mixed-media artist Sandee Mahler4 creates striking works that move between representational imagery and pure abstraction. Layers of acrylic paint, texture, and motion define her style, and she enjoys working on large, commissioned pieces. She offers classes in abstract painting and hosts relaxed Paint & Sip gatherings at Lowdermilk Beach.
Further along the boulevard, at Chrysallis Studio at Border Fine Art (2220 J&C Blvd #4) features the work of Julie Siler Olander2. Painting in acrylic, collage, watercolor, and oil, Julie’s work bursts with movement and color. Her newest modern abstract series pairs beautifully with today’s interiors. Visitors can also take advantage of group, semi-private, and private classes in drawing and painting.
At Artists Row (2044 J&C Blvd), art lovers can explore several studios in one stop. Michael Monroe7 maintains two galleries here, including one dedicated entirely to his large-scale paintings. Working primarily in acrylic, his pieces are rich with texture and bold brushwork. His newest angel series is designed to leave viewers with a feeling of hope, health, and happiness.
Also located at Artists Row is Susan Alexander Shipman Fine Art1 (2086 J&C Blvd). Working in oils and watercolor, Susan creates joyful, colorful works collected both nationally and internationally. Her paintings are included in the corporate collection of Hallmark and in the collection of Naples arts benefactor Myra Janco Daniels.
The Naples Art District features more than 100 professional artists working in 52 studios and galleries along J&C Boulevard and Shirley and Yahl Streets—making it the largest concentration of working artists in the region. Make it part of your next Naples itinerary and meet the artists who make the community so vibrant. Visitors are invited to explore during Open Studios every Thursday and Saturday from 1–5 p.m., through April 30 when doors are open, artists are at work, and guests can experience and purchase art where it is actually created.
