Opportunities Without Limits

As more than 47,000 students return to Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) this month, our schools will once again be filled with possibility. Across 53 schools and three technical college campuses, students will enter classrooms carrying dreams for their future. Some aspire to become engineers, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, teachers, skilled tradespeople, or military leaders. Others are still discovering where their talents and interests may lead them. Wherever their journey takes them, every student deserves access to opportunities that help them reach their full potential.
The CCPS Senior Spotlights featured alongside this article highlight students with different talents, interests, goals, and aspirations. Together, they demonstrate a fundamental truth about public education: when students are given access to opportunities, they can achieve remarkable things. This year, more than 3,400 students graduated as members of the CCPS Class of 2026. Together, they earned more than $40 million in scholarships, opening doors to higher education and career opportunities across the country.

Many graduates will continue their studies at some of the nation's most respected institutions, including Harvard University, Yale University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Florida, and numerous colleges and universities throughout Florida and beyond. Others are pursuing technical education, entering the workforce, or serving our nation through military service. That diversity of destinations is worth celebrating because success is not defined by a single path.

Our school district helps create opportunities for students to pursue a wide range of futures. One example is the Harold P. Bovenkerk Scholarship for Engineering and Natural Sciences, which is available exclusively to students enrolled in CCPS.
Supported by an endowment exceeding $25 million, the scholarship has already helped more than 150 students pursue careers in engineering, natural sciences, and related fields. This year alone, 28 graduating seniors earned a combined $1.2 million through the program, helping transform ambitious dreams into achievable realities. At CCPS, our goal is not to steer students toward one definition of success. Rather, it is to provide every student with the opportunities, resources, and support needed to pursue the future that is right for them.
These opportunities do not happen by accident. They are the result of dedicated students, families, teachers, support staff, business partners, and community members who believe in the power of public education to change lives. That collective commitment was recently reflected in another milestone for our school district. CCPS earned an A rating from the Florida Department of Education for the ninth consecutive year, placing us among the highest-performing school districts in the state. We are one of only five Florida districts to maintain an A rating for each of the last nine years and ranked sixth among Florida's 67 school districts this year. More importantly, these results confirm what we see every day in our classrooms, athletic fields, performing arts centers, career academies, and graduation ceremonies: students are thriving.
The future of Collier County depends on the young people currently sitting in our classrooms. Whether they become engineers, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, educators, first responders, skilled tradespeople, or military leaders, their success will shape the future of our community. As you look at these CCPS Senior Spotlights, I encourage you to see more than individual achievements. See a generation of young people prepared to make meaningful contributions to our community and beyond. Their accomplishments remind us that Opportunities Without Limits is more than a commitment. It is a promise we make to every student and a reality demonstrated by the Class of 2026. Together, their stories show what is possible when opportunity meets determination. And that is something our entire community can celebrate.
