From Humble Beginnings to A Beautiful Smile

“Designed to Smile” is the slogan Dr. Flavius Popescu came up with as the foundation of his dental career. He treats all his patients with the mindset that we were all intelligently created to smile from the day before we even got our first tooth. From our muscles to our bone structure and our eyes to our teeth, everything on our face works together to produce a smile. Regardless of whether that smile is initiated in our brain or in our hearts, Dr. Popescu wants to help people be able to smile with comfort and confidence.
There are many factors that contributed to this philosophy, some extending back to his humble upbringing in a rural town in communist Romania. As an immigrant to the U.S., Dr. Popescu learned that hard work and opportunity can make dreams come true. And seeing the dental needs in his own family led him to pursue a career that could help not only his own family but many others in need.
After graduating from THE Ohio State University, Dr. Popescu’s first patients were on a dental mission trip in several cities in Eastern Europe. Ever since then, he has not stopped giving back, and even though he now lives in a place many call paradise, he still finds time to help the less fortunate in countries like Guatemala, Honduras, Moldova, and many others.
The more he practices, the more his hunger for knowledge grows. Having completed hundreds of continuing education hours since graduation, Dr. Popescu has never stopped acquiring knowledge about the dental field, including the body as a whole. Only when you realize that even a small filling can affect something as distant as the TMJ, can you treat someone comprehensively. Ultimately, his goal is to help people as a whole, not just their teeth. Now, having opened his own office with his wife Dr. Lavinia, he can finally provide the highest quality with latest technology available, to help everyone in his community as he would his own family.
