One Man’s Mission to Redefine Home Care
At Assisting Hands Naples, all caregivers are employees... they are chosen for the same qualities Eric sought for his own mother: professionalism, kindness, commitment, and unwavering dedication to the well-being of seniors.”
For Eric Brown, the journey into the world of home health care didn’t begin in a boardroom. It began at his mother’s side.
Like so many adult children navigating the complexities of aging parents, Eric found himself in a stressful, emotionally charged search for qualified, compassionate home caregivers. “It was a long and frustrating process,” he recalls. “I needed someone with the right mix of training, empathy, and availability—but it took months to find the right fit.”
Ultimately, he did find two exceptional women—Opal and “Mrs. D,” as his mother fondly called her—who made a profound difference in her final years. But the struggle to get there left a lasting impression. “Throughout that whole experience, I kept thinking, ‘There has to be a better way.’”
After his mother passed, Eric transformed that thought into action. Drawing on his executive background in managing large, people-driven teams, he acquired Assisting Hands Naples, a locally owned agency already known for its compassion, reliability, and integrity.
Unlike the majority of home care options in Collier County, Assisting Hands Naples is not a nurse registry—a critical distinction most families don’t realize until they’re overwhelmed. Under Florida law, nurse registries can refer caregivers, but they cannot legally supervise, train, manage, or monitor them. These caregivers are independent contractors, leaving families who are already stressed, now also responsible for the overwhelming responsibility of oversight.
At Assisting Hands Naples, all caregivers are employees, not independent contractors. They are carefully selected, thoroughly trained, background-checked, skill-tested, and insured. More than that, they are chosen for the same qualities Eric sought for his own mother: professionalism, kindness, commitment, and unwavering dedication to the well-being of seniors.
Prioritizing personal connections and consistency, we assign the same caregivers consistently, fostering familiarity, trust, and emotional continuity. We take time to match clients with the ideal caregiver—not just based on skillset or experience, but also on personality and communication style. That’s how we create relationships, not just care shifts.
Through our signature AssuredCare Program, each client receives a customized, complimentary care plan written by their dedicated nurse supervisor. This nurse supervisor typically visits weekly to ensure quality, address evolving needs, and consult with caregivers one-on-one. With 24/7 monitored support and a deeply experienced and dedicated leadership team, families have something priceless: peace of mind.
That commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed. Assisting Hands Naples was just named one of the Top 100 Home Care Agencies in North America and has earned Best of Home Care Awards for 10 consecutive years, including:
Provider of Choice
Employer of Choice
Leader in Experience
But for Eric, the accolades are only part of the story. “We’re here for the families,” he says. “I’ve been in their shoes. I know how much it matters to have someone you can trust. That’s why we’re different. Seems simple – but it’s a profound difference when you get to experience it.”
Whether your loved one needs full-time support or a part-time helping hand, Assisting Hands Naples delivers the care you’d want for your own family—because that’s exactly how Eric started.
